After more than 20 years of dedicated service as our Clinical Matron, Sarah McGaughey has officially stepped down from the role. Throughout her time as Matron, Sarah has led the clinical team with compassion, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to the highest standards of care.
Since becoming a glamorous granny, Sarah has chosen to continue her role at the hospice in a part-time capacity. We’re delighted that she remains a key part of the team, continuing to apply her wealth of clinical knowledge, wisdom, sense of humour, and compassion to the patients and families we care for.
While she is stepping back from her matron responsibilities, we are thrilled to announce that Senior Sister Sophie Jasper has been promoted to the role of Clinical Matron. Sophie has been with the hospice since March 2016 and has worked closely with Sarah over the past few years as a valued member of the senior nursing team. Under Sarah’s mentorship, Sophie has developed into an exceptional leader.
As Sarah passes the baton, we are confident that Sophie will carry forward the values, excellence, and dedication that define our clinical care, both within the hospice and out in the community, ensuring a strong and secure future for our services.
Please join us in thanking Sarah for all that she has given in her time as Matron, and in congratulating Sophie on her well-deserved new role.
