Donna’s story

We will forever be eternally grateful to every single member of staff there, as was Dad

Obviously, nobody wants to be in hospital, so when a bed came up for Dad in the Countess of Brecknock Hospice, we were all pleased as a family as it’s so different to a hospital. You get your own room, with bathroom and even access to the garden in your bed. You can even have your family over to sleep. But also, how amazing it is that pets are allowed to go visit too. They truly do cater for the patient and what their individual needs and wishes are.

It’s also so nice to be able to sit in the family room and make a coffee, and for the patients that still get about that’s nice to be able to sit in there with them there too or the lounge rather than just sit in their personal rooms.

The care and devotion the staff give to each patient but also their family members is second to none.

And it’s also open 24/7 visiting hours again unlike hospitals. So you can visit as many times a day for as long or short as you wish.

Dad was so grateful and truly appreciative of the kind caring staff who always had time for him.

The hospice is an absolutely wonderful place for those who are having the hardest times of their lives. It just made the whole ordeal an easier experience with the hospice and staff involved.

We will forever be eternally grateful to every single member of staff there, as was Dad.
